Jenna returns to sunny Tenerife, the largest of the Canary Islands, and reports on two amazing attractions, find out more .....
After visiting Tenerife for the first time last year, I was keen to return to explore a little more of this ‘Sunshine Island.’ It is no wonder that Tenerife attracts
hundreds of visitors year after year as it is a perfect holiday destination for the whole family; and for couples too!
Boasting glorious year-round sunshine, beautiful beaches, magnificent views, superb hotels, UNESCO World Heritage sights, and an excellent choice of restaurants, there really is something for everyone!
Whilst every corner of the island is worthwhile exploring, here are a few attractions within Tenerife which may interest you…
Tenerife’s most iconic landmark; Mount Teide, should be at the top of your list! The Teide National Park surrounds the legendary volcano and is perfectly located within the centre of the island. As the park is the only subtropical alpine area in Europe, it is home to a number of species which are unique to the Park - nature in all its splendour! Whilst visiting the Mount Tiede you can make the most of the lookout points provided; allowing you to capture some of the spectacular views of the island on camera.
If you fancy doing something a little bit more exhilarating during your trip, then a visit to Siam Park is a definite must. Siam Park; otherwise known as the ‘Water Kingdom’, caters for the whole family. If you want to bring out the thrill-seeker in you, then Siam Park is the right place with plenty of water rides that will get your heart racing; particularly the famous ‘Tower of Power’ & the brand new Kinnaree ride!
If, however, like myself, you fancy a visit to the water park to be a little calmer, then you’ll also enjoy some tamer but equally thrilling water rides such as ‘The Volcano’, ‘The Giant’ or the ‘Naga Racer’. Within the Water Kingdom, there is also the opportunity to relax on a white sandy beach and the Mai Thai lazy river circulating the park is perfect for an afternoon ‘siesta’! For those of you who travel with children, Siam Park will keep youngsters entertained for hours with it’s fantastic water play areas, from the Lost City to Jawasdee!
Loro Parque, a tropical paradise, is one of the Canary Islands’ biggest attractions. The Park is famous for it's many Parrots but it's also sanctuary for a wide selection of endangered species from around the world -- Sea Lions to Pelicans, Gorillas, Chimps, Tigers, and even Sharks....
From the moment your visit begins, winding pathways will entice you into exploring Katandra Treetops, the Thai Village and the botanical Gardens. Your trip would also not be complete without visiting “Planet Penguin”; a true highlight of my day! Whilst visiting Loro Parque, make the most of the spectacular hows where you can watch dolphins, sea lions & parrots perform stunts that capture the hearts & the humour of the audience. The top class Orca performance is a great show & there is even an opportunity to go behind the scenes to meet the baby Orca!
A trip to Loro Parque is a great day out and is fun for all the family – young or old, so it’s no wonder it attracts hundreds of visitors every year! Situated in the North of the Island; in Puerto de la Cruz, Loro Parque is definitely worth a visit no matter where in the Island you are staying.
MY ACCOMMODATION IN TENERIFE
With Playa de Las Americas being the most popular part of the Island, the choice of hotels here is staggering! I chose to stay in the H10 Conquistador located in Playa de Las Americas ! This 4 star hotel was exactly what we had hoped for during our stay in Tenerife, and more! With a beautiful pool, spa, gym and marbled flooring throughout, this was an excellent choice.
With Tenerife only being a four hour flight from the UK, no guarantees but you could be in the glorious Tenerife sunshine in no time! After visiting for the second time, I really can’t recommend this island enough as a perfect holiday destination that you will want to visit time and time again!
